Principal Researcher

Akmaral Orazaly is a Principal Researcher at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) specialising in future government and innovation, with rich experience in AI governance, data policy, and the responsible use and deployment of AI in public services. Her work focuses on AI ethics, responsible AI governance, and data policy, with an emphasis on practical frameworks that support public sector innovation and trustworthy adoption of emerging technologies. Akmaral brings extensive practitioner experience in public sector digital transformation.

 

She previously served at Digital Dubai Authority in strategic project management role with her projects spanning data products, governance frameworks, and stakeholder engagement across government and industry. Her work has included contributing to high-impact initiatives such as Dubai’s AI ethics governance efforts, synthetic data frameworks for privacy-preserving innovation, and data strategy development. She has supported cross-functional, multi-stakeholder delivery across complex programs and has contributed to convenings and public discussions on responsible technology.

 

She also brings earlier technical foundations from roles in data integration and enterprise data systems, which inform her emphasis on bridging policy, governance, and implementation realities. She holds an MBA from Nazarbayev University and a BSc in Information Systems Technology from Robert Gordon University and has been recognized for contributions to the responsible AI and AI ethics field.
