Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government Organizes Roundtable on Smart Policies and Innovation
The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG), organized a roundtable discussion on smart policies and innovation in the public sector on the side-lines of the third annual government summit that concluded in Dubai recently.
Hosted in collaboration with Singapore-based Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the roundtable was attended by participants from Singapore, Australia, Germany, the UK and the US, and focused on three key aspects of public policy - what constitutes smart policy, the important role of participatory planning and collaboration in developing smart policy, and finally, the role of schools of government in supporting decision makers with smart policies for the effective implementation of innovative public sector practices.
The discussions focused on the collaborative and strategic approaches to designing, implementing and evaluating policies. The panelists also explored flexibility and creativity in policy making, and reiterated the importance of technology to maximize benefits, lower costs and ease the implementation process. The need to remain sustainable to ensure long-term positive impact and the well-being of individuals and society as a whole were also highlighted.
Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President, MBRSG, said: “It was a privilege to participate as knowledge partners of the prestigious annual Government Summit this year, and collaborate with a premier institution like Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in convening eminent scholars to discuss formulation and implementation of smart policy. The roundtable generated rich ideas and offered the unique opportunity to share knowledge and exchange points of view towards facilitating innovative policy making. We are confident the outcomes will significantly benefit the UAE government.”
