11 October 2021

The master's programs offered by Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) in management, innovation, and public policy have marked a significant milestone in the development of the work systems of government and private institutions in the UAE. Over the years, these programs have become effective tools for preparing generations of future leaders who strive to advance various development paths, enhancing the UAE's model of establishing a flexible and highly efficient work system capable of facing challenges and turning them into opportunities.

Recently, despite the challenges faced globally due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MBRSG celebrated the graduation of 285 students from the seventh and eighth cohorts of 2020 and 2021, specializing in public administration, innovation, and public policy.

Dr. Ali Bin Seba Al Marri, CEO of MBRSG, stated that building the cities of the future requires future leaders capable of formulating effective public policies to tackle various future challenges and turn them into opportunities that enhance performance and efficiency. He emphasized that investing in human resources and enhancing their capabilities is a fundamental pillar of the UAE's leadership vision. From this vision, we derive our plans and strategies at MBRSG, aiming to support the journey of governmental excellence in the UAE and the Middle East through a comprehensive system of educational, training, research, and study programs. We rely on our graduates and their acquired expertise to contribute to building unique governmental models characterized by innovation and sustainable excellence.

Professor Raed Awamleh, Dean of MBRSG, explained that the master's programs at the school lay the foundation for an advanced generation of future leaders capable of formulating and implementing highly effective and efficient government policies and programs. These programs equip graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to become decision-makers and advisors in their respective fields.

Graduates of the master's programs at MBRSG affirmed that the programs significantly refined their practical experiences and opened wide horizons for creativity in their institutions or personal projects.

Khawla Al Hosani, who earned an Executive Master's in Public Administration and works at the Emirates School Establishment, stated that her enrollment in the MBRSG program significantly enhanced her research, inquiry, and data-driven decision-making skills. It also improved her ability to work within a team, accept constructive criticism, and quickly prepare and implement decisions, positively impacting her professional life with diverse experiences and a deeper understanding of the federal government institutions and their operational methodology.

She added, "Through my academic experience, I was able to transform scientific concepts into practical applications at the workplace, linking master's program tasks to work-related aspects and transferring my experience to practical skills, presenting feasible proposals and research papers. We also learned about training paths for teachers and school leaders and their impact on job quality and the dimensions of professional development and how countries around the world work on them."

Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Mulla, who holds an Executive Master's in Public Administration and works at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, explained that the academic program at the school elevated his ambitions in management and excellence to reach space. He added, "I am now an astronaut at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre and aspire to reflect an honorable image of my country, the UAE, in this field and contribute to making the UAE competitive globally. Thanks to the academic program, I am now more aware of how to operate in a work environment and manage teams. I also have a more comprehensive view of the methodology of managing local governments and the UAE government."

Noura Abdulaziz Al Amiri, who works at the Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, obtained a Master's in Public Administration and explained that she faced many difficulties in understanding the mechanisms of government entities during the early stages of her career due to the difference between her field of study and work. Therefore, she decided to study public administration to overcome these challenges, confirming that the academic program at MBRSG changed her overall perspective on work and governmental work in particular. It enhanced her ability to apply many ideas at the workplace, such as creating programs, innovation, evaluating information, and drawing strategies for evaluating human resources performance.

Khalid Abdullah Al Dhaheri, who holds a Master's in Public Administration and works at the Ministry of Interior, stated that the program contributed to his personal development and enhanced his skills and capabilities in various aspects, including practical aspects. It boosted his confidence and helped develop various skills such as time management, handling work pressures, strategic and financial planning, and leading work teams.

He explained that he benefited in two ways at the workplace. First, all the materials included in the program are closely related to daily governmental work practices, such as public policies, human resources management, financial studies, and strategic planning, applying academic knowledge to practical gaps, leading to the development and improvement of the government work system and re-engineering work procedures according to the latest scientific practices. The second benefit was the opportunity to meet several government leaders studying the same program and learn from their administrative work experiences, creating genuine benchmarking processes that contribute to applying the best administrative systems and procedures.

Marwa Mahmoud Al Kamali, who works at the Dubai World Trade Centre and joined the Master's in Innovation Management program at MBRSG, expressed her desire to gain personal experiences, emphasizing that education should not stop at a certain age. She confirmed that these experiences would undoubtedly be an addition to any institution she works for, ensuring her ability to face any challenges in the work environment and turn them into valuable opportunities, providing the best performance in her field of work within the standards of innovation and excellence.

Osama Mohammed Al Bastaki, who works at the Dubai Health Authority and graduated from the Master's in Innovation Management program, utilized the program at his workplace, where the nature of work requires innovation and seeking everything new, addressing difficulties and crises. He applied the academic program's outputs by preparing extensive research on how to establish an innovation framework in the healthcare sector, develop ideas, and sustain them, benefiting from this research at his workplace.

Tariq Mohammed Taji, who holds a Master's in Public Policy and works at Lab Holding, stated that MBRSG's programs, which rely on practical application and real-world experience, facilitated graduates' integration with the general picture of professional life and made them more understanding of it.
