100 Libyan Leaders Participate in the Second Batch of Executive Education Program

9 June 2013

The School hosted today an orientation session for the second batch of its Leaders Program comprising 100 delegates from Libya’s ministries of Labor, Health, and Education as well as the Electricity and Water Authority, and the Environment General Authority.
The Leaders Program is an outcome of an agreement between the Dubai School of Government and the Veterans Affairs Commission in Benghazi. As part of the agreement, DSG has developed an educational leadership program that is being delivered to 300 select Libyan government representatives in three batches of 100 participants each.
In his welcome address, Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President, Dubai School of Government, commended the collaboration efforts between the School and the Libyan government. He also delivered the opening speech, highlighting the success of the first batch of the program.
During the preliminary session, the objectives and scope of the training program were outlined. The program agenda and activities of the previous batch, which graduated in April, were also shared with the participants. The 30 days program that will conclude on 4 July will cover strategic planning, quality and organizational excellence, as well as project management and financial priorities.
Dr Al Marri said: “The UAE has continuously proved its capacities in various economic sectors, reaffirming its leadership in the Arab region. We, at the Dubai School of Government, have worked to provide specialized programs that hone the skills of public sector employees and shape them into successful leaders to further consolidate the nation’s status. Today, we are pleased to share our expertise with the Libyan leaders and in fact every Arab country as directed by the vision of Dubai’s leadership”.
“The School welcomes the new batch of the Leaders Program. In addition to laying the foundation for a cohesive, mature and capable government for shaping Libya’s future, we are confident that the program will strengthen cooperation between the UAE and Libya."
As part of the program, the School will organize a series of field visits from end-June to government departments such as Dubai Police, Department of Finance, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Government Excellence Programme, Department of Economic Development, Roads and Transport Authority, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, and the Ministry of State for Federal National Council. In addition to offering an understanding of the workflow of these departments, the visits will help participants identify best practices within the government authorities.
