Dubai Data Course- Group B

The course is the first in a series of practical and hands-on training opportunities to equip government employees with the data skills required to transform Dubai into the “smartest and happiest city in the world” through Dubai Data.  Sessions are structured to achieve concrete Learning Outcomes

Programs Objectives

The course focuses on developing the skills required to:

  1. Prepare the Entity’s data inventory 
  2. Prioritize and classify the data 
  3. Complete the data contract 
  4. Develop a 12-month Data Release Plan 
  5. Course methodology has been designed to be participatory and active, reflecting Real-life scenarios which require the use of teamwork, problem-solving and cooperation 

Learning Outcome 

At the conclusion of the course, each entity’s data team will have:  

  1. Completed a prioritized and classified data inventory for their entity, with a completed data contract 
  2. Classified and prepared a total of 15 datasets, of which at least 5 datasets are classified as Open 
  3. Developed a 12-month departmental Data Release Plan/Entity Roadmap 
  4. At the conclusion of the course, DDE will have:  
  5. Minimum of 50 prioritized and classified data sets ready for DDE review

Day 1 – Focus: Listing Data Sets in Data Inventory

  2. Principles of Smart Cities
  3. Requirements of the Dubai Data Law
  4. Data Inventory
  5. Introduction to Capstone Project


Day 2 – Focus: Add Metadata to Data Inventory

  1. Dubai’s Data Framework
  2. Introduction to Smart Dubai Platform
  3. Data Standards and Compliance
  4. Dubai Data Roadmap
  5. Practical session prioritizing practice 

Day 3 – Focus: Classify Datasets

  1. Practical session with practice data sets for classification
  2. Fundamentals of Data Lifecycle Management
  3. Practical session for adding metadata to practice data sets

Day 4 – Focus: Gain Approval for Entity Roadmaps & Data Inventories

  1. Utilizing Analytics to Capitalize on Strategic Data Assets
  2. Practical session for Developing an Entity Data Release Plan
  3. Capstone Presentations
