Khamis Al Alawy

Research Fellow (Non-Resident)

Khamis currently serves as a Research Fellow at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government and as a consultant for a specialized United Nations agency, supporting the strengthening of health systems at regional and global levels.

 

He previously worked for several leading organizations within the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), where he led on priority public health topics. He also served as Head of Section and later as a consultant for local government authorities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

 

Alalawy has participated in numerous national and local committees concerned with health policy and strategy and has contributed to the development of impactful public health initiatives.

His experience spans a wide range of domains, including public health, health promotion, health policy and strategy, and health systems strengthening. He is passionate about translating policy into practice, leading transformative initiatives, and driving value-based and sustainable improvements in health systems.

 

He holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Human Biology and a Master of Science in Public Health and Health Promotion from Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK. In 2017, he earned a Master of Science with Distinction in Health Policy from Imperial College London.

 

He is a certified PRINCE2 practitioner, holds a qualification in Social Marketing, and is a Fellow of both the Royal Society for Public Health and the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government.

Alalawy has spoken at national and international conferences and has contributed to academic publications. He serves as a peer reviewer for several public health journals and for the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). In 2016, he received the “Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing” award from Public Health journal in recognition of his efforts to improve the journal’s quality.

 

His research interests are focused on public health, health policy, and innovation in healthcare systems.
